Start your review of The Digital Photography Book Volume 3 Write a review Shelves: non-fiction , photography , paperbacks Although this book is indicated as being Volume 3, it is not a 3rd edition of the book and like Volume 2 is a continuation of tricks and tips. Where I found that the Volume 1 book was excellent for beginners, Volume 2 was more geared towards more advanced photography skills and studio and portrait shooting. Volume 3 I found was actually also a good book for new photographers as well. While a beginner can read all books in the series I feel that Volume s 1 and 3 have more to offer them.

Oct 07, Bart rated it really liked it Recommends it for: beginners and hobbyists My veteran photographer friends would laugh at me if they knew I bought this book. I liked this book, though, because it reminded me a lot of having a conversation with a photographer friend. In fact, this is a goal clearly stated by the author: he wanted to cut out the technical explanations and write as if he and the reader were out shooting, giving flat advice and instructions.
It works for what it is, I picked My veteran photographer friends would laugh at me if they knew I bought this book. It works for what it is, I picked up a lot of tips from the book. Its main limitation is that it does leave me wondering too much at the "whys" while it answers the "hows. He calms down towards the end though. He just tells you as a friend would. Set your camera at this setting, do this, do that, and there you go.
I want to try out everything he explained. Extremely helpful. I would not recommend this book to professionals--you can have the complicated-wording books.
